Ford Collision Marketing Managers Melissa Lester and Paul Massie explain the importance
of replacing parts with Genuine Ford Original Equipment collision replacement parts.
WHY ARE FORD PARTS IMPORTANT?
“If my car was involved in an accident and I had a Ford bumper, and I paid to have insurance, I’d want it replaced with the parts that were on the vehicle when it got in the accident.”
WHY WOULD FORD PARTS NOT BE USED FOR REPAIRS?
“There are some states where there aren’t any laws protecting consumers at all, and if you are a customer, you could be having aftermarket parts put on your vehicle ultimately without your knowledge.”
WILL FORD PARTS COST MORE?
“The customer will have to have a conversation with the insurance company about how much using Ford parts is going to cost. Is there a difference? Will they cover it for free? Ford parts are the only ones manufactured with the original design intent for your Ford vehicle.”
WHAT POWER DO YOU HAVE AS A CUSTOMER?
“It is in your best interest to remain engaged, to ask the body shop about what they will use to repair your vehicle and about the training they have, and the equipment that they have. When the auto body shop presents the estimate, you should make sure that Ford parts were used, and that aftermarket, salvage or recycled parts were not used without your consent or knowledge.”
