Go Small. Live Big. Be Unstoppable.

A rip-roaring, star-studded party heralds the stateside arrival of the 2018 EcoSport

“Are we ready to make some history?” Ryan Seacrest bellows from a stage in Los Angeles.

“Let’s make some history!” booms DJ Khaled, the king of Snapchat, as he whips out his phone to document the moment while the crowd roars with anticipation. Strobe lights flash as the music pounds and each celebrity pulls the cover off, unveiling two brand-new 2018 Ford EcoSport (pronounced echo-sport) SUVs. “When I say 'Eco,' you say 'Sport.' Eco!” yells Khaled, grinning as the crowd shouts back, “Sport!”

There’s plenty to be pumped about when it comes to the EcoSport, which will appear in showrooms at the beginning of next year—the first time the compact utility will be available in North American markets. The original EcoSport launched in 2003 for the South American market before becoming available in India, China and, most recently, Europe. But while those early models were highly utilitarian, catering to a market where the main objective was getting from Point A to Point B safely, the 2018 EcoSport is anything but low-key. The newest Ford SUV has available Intelligent 4WD and more bells and whistles than a marching band—appealing to tech-savvy millennials and other drivers who want a fun, capable and connected vehicle.

Go bold! EcoSport offers features such as a large color LCD touchscreen, a 10-speaker B&O PLAY premium audio system by Harman**—and available heated leather seats!

An available 8-inch color LCD touchscreen provides easy access to vehicle controls. “Most drivers can manage the controls while keeping their elbows bent,” says Eric Loeffler, Ford’s Global Engineering Chief for the EcoSport. “You don’t need to come off the seat, which can lead to distraction.”

The Ford-exclusive B&O PLAY audio system, standard on EcoSport Titanium, features 10 speakers, including B&O PLAY–branded tweeters and woofers in the front doors and a subwoofer in back. Loeffler says Harman engineers spent more than 400 hours custom tuning the 675-watt system. “It sounds pretty amazing,” he says with a laugh.

SYNC® 3 with Apple CarPlay** compatibility connects your smartphone to help you navigate your device.

Drivers can start, lock, unlock and locate their vehicles from almost anywhere using their smartphones with available SYNC® Connect and FordPass*. And while on the journey, a moonroof** lets passengers take in everything, including stars overhead.

Loeffler and his team began working on the new model more than three years ago and made sure to integrate the valuable Ford Auto Start-Stop Technology. At a complete stop, the engine will automatically shut off and seamlessly restart when you release the brake pedal. This can help reduce fuel consumption and vehicle emissions.

EcoSport is also highly capable. Drivers can choose a spirited 1.0L EcoBoost® engine with front wheel drive or a 2.0L Ti-VCT I-4** engine with Intelligent 4WD.**

Trim outside, spacious inside. It's nimble and ready for just about anything.

While EcoSport is a compact utility, the surprisingly spacious cabin accommodates seating for five and versatile rear cargo space with three storage configurations. “I’m a big dude and I can fit in it,” laughs Khaled after the unveiling. With its fun, top-notch technology and roomy feel, the 2018 EcoSport is already a big hit in the U.S. As only Khaled can say: “Go Small. Live Big!”
