Toby Keith

One of music’s most successful and well-traveled acts is a third-generation Ford truck man.

Although he’s a music superstar, Toby Keith, who was raised by an oilman and worked in the oil fields himself, still feels most at home under the big sky of the Oklahoma plains. He prefers the simple, rural life—hunting, fishing and ranching—and he always drives a Ford truck. These days, you’ll find him at the wheel of a 2010 Platinum-edition four-wheel-drive
F-150 double-cab. “I’m a third-generation Ford guy,” says Keith. “My grandfather drove an LTD Brougham and a model pickup. My dad never drove anything but Ford.”

Keith himself is every bit as much an American icon as the Ford trucks he loves. His 15th album, Bullets in the Gun, made its debut at No. 1 on the Billboard charts in October of last year, and over his career, Keith has had more than 40 songs on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart—28 hitting No. 1.

Last year, Keith and Ford joined up for the American Ride Tour; Keith is also collaborating with Ford on the Built Ford Tough® American Ride Sweepstakes, a contest with a unique prize: The winner will receive an F-Series truck plus a weekend on tour with Keith, including all-access crew member status and a tour bus. Just what does one do with Toby Keith? “If the weather’s good, we put the awnings out and fire up the smokers,” says the singer. “The winner can just hang out and watch everything going on backstage.”
